A coalition of political organizations in Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Federal Constituency of the State under the auspices of the ‘Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro’ Youths and Elders Forum (DATABO) have passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.
This came even as the leadership crisis rocking the boat of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) ahead of the 2019 general elections in Bauchi State heightens,
While addressing Journalists on Friday shortly after a rally in support of the Speaker held in Tafawa Balewa Local Government, leader of the Forum, Alhaji Salisu Musa explained that the demonstration was aimed at countering the recent allegation leveled against the Speaker Dogara by factional chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the three local government areas that Yakubu Dogara was allegedly involved in a plot to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari.
Salisu Musa who described the allegation as mischievous claimed that the Speaker Dogara did not only vote for Muhammadu Buhari at the party primaries in 2015 but mobilized delegates from his constituency to support him and the APC during the general elections.
“It will interest you to know that Dogara was one of Muhammadu Buhari’s agents during the primaries.
In fact, he used to say that “if you would not vote for Buhari, don’t vote for me”. Let them provide a proof of video or audio clip where the Speaker spoke ills of the President let alone plotting his impeachment”, he said.
Also speaking, another member of the Forum, Mr Bulus Ishaku said the Speaker deserves support from all constituents in view of the numerous developmental projects he has so far executed or facilitated in the three local government areas that make up the Federal constituency regardless of tribal or political differences.
While buttressing his points, Bulus Ishaku noted that the Number Four citizen in the country has built bridges, farm markets, libraries and renovated primary schools in the three areas.
He added that the Speaker also facilitated the construction of 57 kilometres of road in Dass local government by the federal government and other roads in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro local government areas.
Aside those, he said Yakubu Dogara had personally sponsored 10, 000 people from the constituency for training at the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin-Kowa in Gombe State on crops production and others to Israel for training on modern farming.
“At this juncture, we want to state categorically clear that, we, in this Forum, will not allow any individual or group to indulge in character assassination or blackmail against the Speaker because he has done many good things in our communities which nobody ever has done”, they stated.
