Benefits of Having Garlic in Your Diet

Garlic is a herb grown in many parts of the world. It is a cousin to onions and leeks appraised to have very interesting medicinal benefits when taken in a reasonable portion. Asides its pungent smell which many people complain about, it is actually quite beneficial to the body. In fact, not only is garlic full of benefits, it is actually packed with benefits when eaten raw especially on an empty stomach.

Although you can chop up some garlic to add to your sandwich, add to soups or juice with other vegetables, make into a tonic, roast it and use it like butter or swallow garlic capsules if you can’t chew it straight up, garlic is best eaten raw. Two cloves of garlic per day is considered an acceptable dosage as overeating garlic can lead to heartburn, burning in your mouth or throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and so on.

Garlic possesses anti-inflammatory properties which can help in reducing the cholesterol level in the body and also blood pressure. It is known to be a natural blood thinner as well.

It is a natural antibiotic and anti-inflammatory 

Studies have shown that garlic if eaten on an empty stomach acts as a powerful antibiotic. It is more effective when you eat it before breakfast because bacteria are exposed and cannot defend itself from succumbing to its power. Also, garlic contains allyl sulfides, an anti-inflammatory, cancer-fighting compound which research has proven to slow the growth rate of cancer cells.

Garlic stimulates digestion and appetite, aids proper functioning of the liver and bladder and is effective for stomach problems like diarrhea. It also helps control stress, which prevents stomach acid that is usually produced when you get nervous.
