You may notice some things in your growing teen which is abnormal…whatever the disorder, always take quick action and see your doctor.
- EARLY PUBERTY
Early puberty presents signs even before the girl is eight years old. It is due to the triggering of the hormonal axis hypothalamus-pituitary gland function before the set time which is the usual time. The cause of early puberty may be hereditary or due to the fact that the child is obese. They develop big breasts and start menstruation at a very early stage, however, this doesn’t make them adults as they are not very developed.
- DELAYED PUBERTY
When no signs of puberty have appeared by the age of 15, the girl is said to have delayed puberty.
The slow development may affect the height of the teenager, the breast development and menstruation. It is usually hereditary, so it is often found to have already occurred in the patient’s mother or older sisters.
- HIRSUTISM(ABNORMAL GROWTH OF HAIR)
This is the growth of hair in parts of the body where this is not normal, such as face, chest, abdomen, perineum and groin.
This is defined as the absence of menstrual periods by the age of eighteen. It may be due to an imperforation of the hymen, which prevents the passage of blood from the vagina or to other causes which the doctor must determine and correct as appropriate.
