Outgoing Fifa president Sepp Blatter is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)! Blatter announced his intention to stand down as head of world governing body Fifa on Tuesday, just four days after being elected for a fifth term. And it has now emerged he has come under scrutiny from the US law enforcement organisation. Blatter was not originally named on a US Department of Justice document last week which indicted 14 people on charges of racketeering, fraud and money laundering. Among those indicted were Fifa vice-president Jeffrey Webb and former president of the Brazilian Football Confederation Jose Maria Marin.

In a separate investigation, the Swiss Attorney General is studying alleged corruption into the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to Russia and Qatar respectively. Since Blatter’s announcement that he will step down as Fifa President, a number of figures have expressed interest in the role, including former France midfielder David Ginola and Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, the rival he defeated in Friday’s election. Elections to replace Blatter are set to be held between December and March. Me, I do not understand this type of step down where he is gets to act as president for another 1 year oh!

Meanwhile, two key senior Fifa officials Chuck Blazer and now Jack Warner have been singing louder than canaries. Chuck Blazer previously indicted has been showing documents reportedly with evidences of the briberies. Jack Warner who all this while has been claiming clean hands has done a u-turn and is promising juicy stories about Fifa and Sepp Blatter.blatter-sk

Hmmmm. In a classic case of he who lives in a glass house…. One revelation from Chuck Blazer is that France and South Africa bribed in order to host it’s historic 1998 World Cup. Now Ireland has quickly come out to say it was bribed to overlook Thierry Henri’s handball which was definitely a red card not a Maradona “hand of God”. France’s Michel Platini has been one of the most vocal critics of Blatter.

Me I am thinking that our brothers in SA should have kept quiet and waited for everything to die down or done like Ireland and start shouting “we, we gave bribe oh!!” And used the “we knew they would never have given a black man the vote so we had to bribe” card yes ke! lol ._.)
