Super Eagles’ handler, Gernot Rohr has attributed the new order in the Nigeria’s senior national team to his players’ team spirit and resilience which have been evident in all the matches that have been played under him.
Eagles moved four points clear at the top of the Group B World Cup qualifier after defeating Algeria 3-1 on Saturday evening at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Rohr said he has really been impressed with the amount of work put in by every member of his squad both on and off the pitch insisting that the team’s unity has been crucial to the Eagles’ renewed zeal.
Rohr told journalists: “We made a very good first half just like we did in Zambia last month where we scored two goals.
“In the second half the Algerians came out with the ambition to score and we had to defend to protect our lead. There is something I have noticed in all our matches since I came in; it is the team’s unity.
“Some players are definitely changing but there is something I like about my players. They all accept responsibilities and want to play as a team but out of the field and training sessions they live like a family and it has been strength to the team.”
