‘I Got Offered My Freedom If I Were to Lie’ - Kesha

Kesha is obviously not holding back. On Sunday, April 3, the 29-year-old songstress took to her Instagram page to tell her fans and supporters how that she was given an opportunity to be released from her six-record contract with Sony if she were to publicly take back her rape allegations against Dr. Luke.

The ‘Tik Tok’ singer uploaded a makeup-free selfie on her page alongside a message that says: “So… I got offered my freedom if I were to lie. I would have to APOLOGIZE publicly and say that I never got raped.”

She then added that she would never withdraw her claims made about Dr. Luke, not even if that could mean she would be completely set free from the hands of her alleged abuser.

“THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS behind closed doors. I will not take back the TRUTH. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again.” She added.

However, Dr. Luke’s spokesperson revealed in a statement that Kesha’s post was false.

“Kesha’s Instagram posting is false. The Court repeatedly stated Kesha is already free to record without Dr. Luke and that she had not presented any facts supporting her claims. That’s because all the evidence, including Kesha’s own videotaped sworn testimony, show her allegations are false. The only thing Kesha is not free to do is to continue to lie about Dr. Luke through publicity stunts and outrageous smears, ignoring the fact that by her own free will she went to work and entered into new contracts with Dr. Luke years after this ‘incident’ supposedly happened. Her goal all along has been solely personal enrichment by seeking to break contracts that brought her success and millions so she can enter into more lucrative ones. We look forward to our day in court holding Kesha accountable for her lies.”

The brawl between Kesha and her former producer, Dr Luke has been on for a while now. Kesha accused Dr. Luke of abusing her mentally, physically and sexually and said that she wanted to break her record deal with him and Sony, the company he was signed to. But the court denied Kesha’s request claiming she had no proof to back up her allegation.

Sony also explained that they are unable to break Kesha’s contract with Dr. Luke but made it possible for her to record without any connection to her alleged abuser.

“Sony has made it possible for Kesha to record without any connection, involvement or interaction with Luke whatsoever, but Sony is not in a position to terminate the contractual relationship between Luke and Kesha. Sony is doing everything it can to support the artist in these circumstances, but is legally unable to terminate the contract to which it is not a party.” Scott Edelman, an attorney representing Sony said.

Kesha filed paperwork to appeal the court ruling on the 21st of March. But a new court date is yet to be scheduled. Meanwhile, Kesha continues to receive support from fellow artists such as Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga among many others.
