Meet 12-year-old Beau Dermott, Britain’s Got Talent next Susan Boyle

Amazing! Looks like Britain’s Got Talent has it’s next Susan Boyle. 12-year-old Beau Dermott got a standing ovation from the audience and judges at last night’s opening episode of  the British talent show due to her incredibly massive voice.

The young girl from Halton stunned the judges and the entire audience with a cover of “Defying Gravity” from the musical Wicked. Judge Amanda Holden didn’t think twice before hitting the golden buzzer meaning Dermott got a free pass straight to the show’s live semi-finals.

Despite her age, Dermott has a very fierce voice and never missed a note all through her rendition and that thrilled the judges. When she first came on stage, she seemed nervous and spoke quietly, but as soon as she began singing, she turned into a dramatic and confident stage performer. That reminded the world of Susan Boyle, when she performed on the show in 2009. Her soaring rendition of Les Misérables’ “I Dreamed a Dream” now has up to 188 million hits on YouTube.

Not being able to hide how impressed they were, one of the judges Alesha Dixon said: “You are ready to be on stage, you are fantastic”.

And David Williams agreed, saying: “Everyone else might as well just go home, because it was incredible.”

Even the easily irritated Simon Cowell was shocked, and enthusiastically told her: “We weren’t expecting that.”

Dermott is not at all a stranger to singing competitions, she won her local competition Halton’s Got Talent last year and came fifth out of 9,000 in the national final of Teenstar, a nationwide singing competition in the same week.

Her father Ian Dermott expressed his pride to local papers:

“The judges said she could give Kerry Ellis a run for her money in the West End show. She does get nervous before she goes on stage but once she is on, she just blows everyone away.”

He added that the family discovered her talent when she was eight.

“One day she sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow. We were amazed. She is a normal little girl but she has a powerful voice. She is doing really well at school and getting plenty of practice. They take her everywhere to perform.” He added.

We are definitely warming up to her  live semi-final performance later in the show!
