The All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally held today, Monday, February 11, at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta was disrupted by political thugs said to be of the opposition party.
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomole, was also jeered at by crowd at the party’s Presidential rally in Ogun State.
The former Edo State governor escaped being hit by hoodlums as they threw stones at him.
Some thugs believed to be supporters of Allied People’s Movement, APM, allegedly caused chaos as they rejected the APC governorship flag bearer, Prince Dapo Abiodun in the state.
The programme, which commenced officially immediately after President Buhari arrived at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, was paused for some minutes following the violence.
The Presidential rally of the APC for the re-election of President Mohammadu Buhari turned to a battleground as people ran for safety.
Violence erupted when Oshiomhole was invited to the podium for his speech.
As he began to speak, persons suspected to be hoodlums started throwing stones at him and one of the stones flew in the direction where President Muhammadu was sitting.
He was saved by one of the security operatives who took the hit for the President.
The development angered the leaders of the party, including former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, who left the podium while the President was making his remarks.
APM supporters, who are also Amosun’s supporters did not want to see anything touch of ‘Yellow’ which is Prince Dapo Abiodun’s logo, the Ogun APC governorship candidate.
It was gathered that suspected hoodlums went round the spectators’ side of the stadium, identified Abiodun’s supporters and injured them.
The victims were said to have scaled the fence to avoid being harmed by the attackers who threw dangerous objects such as stones and sticks at them.
