The first trailer for Hobbs and Shaw has officially been released. Dwayne Johnson teased us with the trailer news earlier this week when he revealed that it would drop during the Super Bowl. However, things changed and they decided to drop the first explosive footage from the movie today and it does not disappoint. Long-time fans should be pleasantly surprised with the first taste of the spin-off. Johnson has stated numerous times over the past few weeks that it’s going to be the biggest Fast and Furious movie of the franchise, and it really doesn’t look like he was exaggerating one bit.
To get Fast and Furious fans excited for Hobbs & Shaw, Dwayne Johnson has been releasing little teasers to introduce the characters. Thankfully, these teasers did not reveal any footage from the upcoming movie. Instead, they went with exclusive solo shots that were made specifically for the teasers and nothing else, which makes the first trailer much better. We had yet to see anything from the movie before today, except for leaked pictures and video from the set along with the official stuff that Johnson and Jason Statham were sharing online. Johnson and Statham are leading the charge and having a good time doing so.
In addition to the trailer teases and the actual trailer, Dwayne Johnson unveiled the first poster for Hobbs & Shaw yesterday. It features both characters looking pretty bad ass in different areas. Johnson appears to be in Southern California while Statham is in London, England. As is the case with all of his projects, Johnson did an excellent job keeping fans up to date while also sharing behind-the-scenes pictures. Both Johnson and Statham have talked at length at how much fun it was to get together again and make the movie, which is evident from the trailer.
As for the storyline for Hobbs & Shaw, the specifics remain a mystery. However, screenwriter Chris Miller says that it’s a new take on
We already know that The Rock and Jason Statham have awesome on-screen chemistry, and the Hobbs & Shaw trailer reveals more of it, but in a more intense way than we have seen in the past with extra bits of humour. Deadpool 2 director David Leitch helmed Hobbs & Shaw from a script written by Chris Morgan. In addition to Statham and Johnson, the movie stars Vanessa Kirby as Deckard’s sister Hattie and Idris Elba as Brixton, the villain. Hobbs & Shaw hits theatres on August 2nd, 2019. While we wait for the movie to premiere, you can watch the very first trailer below, thanks to Universal Pictures.
