It’s Throwback Thursday and I’m in a reminiscent mood. Mostly because my radio has been dishing out some love songs from way back and I can’t help but feed off the vibe I’m getting from these love songs.
Listening to these Nigerian hits got me thinking about the good old days and how easy it was to fall in love and genuinely have fun by just listening to some of these songs.
Every track that came on was a hit and made me feel nostalgic. Unlike today, where the music industry is saturated with songs about sex, making love seem outdated.
Love songs aside, some of these hits were great for just chilling as well. Today, there are very few Nigerian songs with meaningful lyrics to them.
Which is the reason I’m sharing ten of my favourite throwback love songs so you can enjoy a little bit of this nostalgia as well.
So, here we go in no particular order:
- Obi Mu O (Rmx) – Obiora Obiwon ft. M.I, Guchi, Blaise & IllBliss
2. If Love Is A Crime – 2Face
3. African Queen – 2face Idibia
4. Ifunaya -PSquare
5. No One Like You – PSquare
6. Call My Name – Style Plus
7. Don’t Break My Heart – Banky W
8. Strong Thing – Banky W
9. Never Far Away – Lagbaja
10. Ololufe – Wande Coal
Gosh! so many love songs to choose from! I guess if I don’t stop here, I just might post up to 50 songs, LOL!
Know what the sweet thing about listening to these songs and watching these videos was? Basically looking at them back then and comparing these music videos to the newest releases. So much difference. But hey, I’d leave that story for another day.
Do share your favorite throwback love songs by Nigerian artists and let me know if any of them made this list.
