The Osun State Police Command has confirmed that two persons lost their lives when a commercial bus plunged into the Osun River yesterday.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Folashade Odoro, told Daily Trust yesterday that two persons died in the incident that occurred at an area known as Oke-Gada in Ede.

One of the residents of the area said the accident happened around 7 pm. He said the driver was trying to avoid potholes near the bridge on the river.

The occupants of the vehicle were said to have been rushed to a private hospital in the area. They were said to have died before reaching the hospital.

The doctor at the hospital confirmed that the victims were brought in dead. Residents pleaded with the state government to fix the roads to avoid stop such avoidable deaths.
