Today, we are crushing on Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, one of the richest woman in the world. She is a business tycoon involved in the fashion, oil and printing industries; a philanthropist, an amazing wife and mother.

She was born in 1951 to the family of Chief L. A. Ogbara in Ikorodu, Lagos State. As a child, her primary education was abroad before she returned to Nigeria for her secondary education at Muslim High School, Sagamu Ogun State, Nigeria. She got married to her husband Modupe Alakija, a lawyer, in November 1976 and is blessed with four lovely guys.

Mrs Alakija worked under people for some years. She then travelled again to study fashion design at the American College, London and the Central School of Fashion. Afterwards, she opened a fashion house in Lagos Nigeria. Though she started small, she was able to grow the business to world-class standard.

She has a foundation called the Rose of Sharon Foundation that helps widows and orphans by empowering them through scholarships and business grants. She is indeed a source of succor to many women and young girls across the globe.

She has organized several conferences and seminars for women, encouraging them to start up something no matter how small and be disciplined to grow it. I particularly love the fact that she recognizes God as the strength of her life.

Speaking recently in an interview, Alakija admonished young people not to take no for an answer, explaining how that doors had been closed at her many times.

She is currently the second richest black woman in the world and the richest woman in Africa. In 2014, she was ranked one of the most powerful women by Forbes and in 2015 she was 87th position on the list.
