Somethings are better left private. 39-year old “Scandal” star, Kerry Washington who is married to Philadelphia Eagles player Nnamdi Asomugha has finally spoken a bit about her marriage and why she never commented on divorce rumors that swirled at the end of last year.
She revealed while speaking on her interview that talking about her personal life on social media is not something she enjoys doing.
“If I don’t talk about my personal life, it means I don’t talk about my personal life. That means not only did I not tell you when I was getting married, it also means if somebody has rumors about what’s going on in my marriage, I don’t refute them, because I don’t talk about my personal life.” She was quoted to have said.
Kerry was reported to have said that she understands why her fellow celebrities take to Twitter or Facebook to set the record straight but she wouldn’t be caught doing such. She revealed that she wouldn’t post pictures of her daughter on social media where she has millions of followers, even though she is sometimes tempted to do so.
“Social media has actually been great for relationships with the weeklies or the gossip sites, because people say things and they say, ‘That’s not true! Just so you know, that’s B.S.! I’m thinking in some ways, it’s been great because people are able to maintain their voice.” She said.
“I have these itchy fingers where I want to post a photo of my daughter, so instead I send it to my shrink or my mother,” she revealed. “I’m like, ‘Look at this picture! Look how cute!’ Get it out of my phone into the world, but not on social. I want her to be able to make those decisions in her time. She already has a lot to navigate in life as the daughter of an actor and a former football player. She should be able to enter this world when it feels right for her, and not have me make that decision for her. Who knows what the next generation of Snapchat will be when she’s allowed to have a phone.” She concluded.
We recall that the popular actress secretly tied the knot with the 34-year-old NFL star in June 2013, and less than a year later, they welcomed their first daughter, Isabelle Amarachi.
