Good news for Wyclef lovers.
American artiste Wyclef Jean will be entertaining fans with a new project dropping this fall. The artiste who has been inactive since the release of his 2007 album Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant, is coming out with a third installment to the 2007 project. It will be titled “Carnival III: Road to Clefication”
In a press release, Jean announced full title and revealed that Avicii was actually the one who thought of it. “It’s a nickname he gave to me,” he said. “We were in Stockholm recording and he said, ‘We need some Clefication.’ Now when I’m in the studio with other producers from his generation, they’ll say, ‘Yo we need some Clefication on the vocal before I swag it up.’ It’s the human application of music.”
Avicii will be appearing as a guest on the forthcoming record alongside other exceptional artistes like Afrojack and Emeli Sandé.
On the song “Hendrix,” Jean sings about playing songs on his guitar growing up as a kid while some members of his family got involved in gangs. He says, “When my cousin got his first Tec, I was playing Jimi Hendrix in the basement.”
“This speaks to the neighborhood I grew up in and how it didn’t look like much,” Wyclef opened up in an interview with Complex. “When the devil, or the streets, offered drugs and cartel and I chose music.“
In a recent interview with Billboard, Jean described the sound of his new studio LP album as “acoustic trap.” Between “Hendrix” and Jean’s on point comeback single “My Girl,” this sounds like a promising piece of work.
